JCCC Jr Tournament - Sun. Apr. 22, 2018 - Notes and Reminder

Hello Everyone,

Thank you again for participating in our upcoming JCCC Jr Tournament this weekend.

This year, we have over 80 participants in 4 Individual categories and 1 Team category.

Three important messages for everyone:

1.     Revised Tournament Schedule:

8:30am            Registration and Shinpan Meeting

9:00am            Tournament Start

1:00/1:30pm    REVISED - Tournament Close and Group Photo

                        Followed by Lunch

We have reconfigured our layout and created a fourth court dedicated for the non-bogu category that will enable us to manage the tournament more efficiently.

2.     Travel:

The Don Valley Parkway (major north-south highway) will be closed this weekend due to annual clean-up and repairs.

(Note: The closure was originally scheduled for last week but the sudden snowfall canceled last weeks’ scheduled clean-up)

Please plan your travel accordingly.

3.     A message from Team Canada:

Team Canada will have a fundraising booth at the Ontario Junior Tournament. Drop by to pick up a Team Canada t-shirt or tenegui (1/$20, or 2/$35)! In addition, we will also have used bogu, kendo accessories, shinai bags etc for sale. We will also gladly accept donated items to add to our used bogu/kendo merchandise sales.

The funds raised will help the Team Canada members train towards World Kendo Championships (WKC) in Incheon, Korea. We have been training hard, travelling to Japan, LA, Vancouver, Montreal and various out of town tournaments. In June we will be training in Brussels. Our goal is not only to perform well at the WKC, but also to bring back what we've learned to the Canadian kendo community. We hope help grow the junior members in Ontario and provide the same opportunities to them as we have been provided.

Unfortunately, we can't accept cards at the event, but we will accept cash and a good conversation. So come by our table and say hi! Thank you!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if further information is required.

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!
